Police Response

Police response is only available on Grade 2 or Grade 3 alarm systems, installed to PD662 and BS 8243, and at Mercury Fire & Security, we can apply for your URN (Unique Reference Number) for a police response through the ARC on compatible systems.

In order for the police to respond, your intruder alarm system must be installed by a professional, accredited company like Mercury Fire & Security, and must be monitored by an approved ARC.

To receive police response, a “confirmed” signal is generally required where multiple detectors are triggered, as this reduces the amount of false alarms. Confirmation can be achieved through any of the following:

• Sequential confirmation – two or more independent detection devices (e.g., sensors) must be triggered within a specific time frame to confirm an alarm.
• Audio confirmation – audio sensors (e.g., microphones) capture sounds indicative of an intrusion (e.g., breaking glass, footsteps) to verify an alarm.
• Visual Confirmation – CCTV or still-image cameras capture visual evidence of an intruder to confirm an alarm.

Bells Only Intruder Alarms
