Police Response

Police response is only available on Grade 2 or 3 systems, and our team, here at Mercury Fire & Security, can apply for your Unique Reference Number (URN) for police response through the ARC on compatible systems.

In order to be eligible for police response, your intruder alarm system must be installed by a professional, accredited company, like Mercury Fire & Security, and must be monitored by approved ARC.

For a police response to occur, a “confirmed” signal is required where multiple detectors are triggered to reduce false alarms. Confirmation can be achieved by:

• Sequential confirmation – this is where two or more independent detection devices (e.g., sensors) are triggered within a specific time frame to confirm an alarm.
• Audio confirmation – this is where audio sensors (e.g., microphones) capture sounds that indicate an intrusion (e.g., breaking glass, footsteps) to verify an alarm.
• Visual confirmation – a CCTV or still-image camera captures visual evidence of an intruder to confirm an alarm.

Unmonitored Intruder Alarms
