Another Apprentice Joins the Team

 Welcome to the Team!

Welcome to the newest member of our team! Nils brings practical knowledge and experience and a fantastic attitude to Mercury. He’s already shown a willingness and hunger to learn and importantly help the team out covering our out-of-hours on-call service only a few weeks in! We appreciate that and look forward to seeing Nils’ skills improving as he starts his apprenticeship with Skills 4 Security soon! Welcome to the team, Nils!

Fire and Intruder Alarm Apprenticeship
Fire Alarm Installation – first things first, labelling!

Apprenticeships are important, and we’re finding they really work for us. The fire and security industry grew rapidly throughout the 70s and 80s and many engineers have retired or have moved into more sedentary roles as they’re grown older. This has resulted in a skills gap within the industry with salaries rising and demand high for skilled engineers.

Fire and Intruder Alarm Apprenticeship Opportunities

At Mercury Security, we’re keen to invest in people with the right attitude. From young to…mature, we’ve taken lots of engineers from inexperienced to qualified engineers able to tackle anything from aging intruder alarms through to the latest video analytics. We’ve seen an industry shift in the last 10-20 years as intruder alarms and CCTV in particular have become more IT focussed with almost all alarm and CCTV systems being app-connected. People don’t expect to have a monitor connected to a CCTV recorder, they expect app-connectivity and our engineers need to be able to work with both modern app-based platforms as well as older systems measuring cable resistance for tampers and faults.

We’re looking forward to seeing how Nils gets on with his first week at college with Skills 4 Security this week. We’re confident this will push his understanding of the technical details and industry regulatory requirements.
