Whilst this is great news for people in Nottinghamshire, the Police report there are still problems.
Detective Sergeant Rob Lloyd said "There's still a way to go. Even if the numbers have gone down, there are still a lot of victims and a lot of stuff can't be replaced – such as lead from churches.
On this particular matter, we have used intruder alarms with beam detection on roofs to great effect, meaning that any would be thieves on the roof would set off the alarm, and from there guards could be called out or even the police. We can also use CCTV with analytics to detect would be thieves as they attempt to climb walls. These CCTV systems can again alert guards or the Police, and footage can be saved for evidence.
Interestingly, the article also reports that theft of catalytic converters from cars is on the rise, and is now a serious threat.
Home CCTV systems can monitor your driveway, recording evidence, and alerting you to movement on your mobile phone. You can then view live footage on your phone, and alert the authorities to the presence of the thieves.
So once again, we're pleased to see this particular situation is improving; but we hope to help our customers to catch and deter criminals, and to improve these crime statistics further this time next year.
