The Derby Telegraph report that thieves recently broke into Derby's historic building, kicking in historic English oak doors throughout the building to gain access.
Unusually, the CCTV used to record the life of the falcons living on the tower turned out to be useful to the police. The thieves kicking the doors to the cathedral could clearly be heard on the audio, and this allowed the Derbyshire police to time stamp the incident precisely.
We often see this with our own CCTV installations in Derby and elsewhere, that your neighbours may well benefit from your CCTV installation.
We certainly hope that this unexpected side effect of the CCTV installed to monitor wildlife helps bring those responsible for the damage to one of Derby's most beautiful buildings to justice.
